Vicky & Peter: Egyptian Coptic Wedding

Vicky and Peter held their wedding in July in central Nottingham. The day started with the girls in St James’s Hotel near the castle, before we drove across Nottingham for the ceremony. Vicky and Peter are Egyptian and their church is Coptic Orthodox, with a big community of worshippers, some of whom joined in to celebrate their marriage ceremony, making 200 guests and a very full church!

The interior of St Mary & St George Church is beautiful, decorated in gold and red with lots of symbolism, which is important to the Coptic faith. Vicky and Peter walked into church together, before being robed and crowned. The smell of incense filled the church whilst the Priests chanted and they ended with a love blessing. We took some images around the streets of Nottingham, taking advantage of the mix of urban and hidden leafy aspects of the inner city.

Their reception was held in The Albert Hall and the Great Hall looked magnificent, with elaborate floral decoration and candlelight. There were so many beautiful images from their wedding, it was difficult to choose Mirror Imaging’s favourites! Here are some highlights.
